Welcome to CACC!

Welcome to the Capital Area Career Center website. CACC provides career exploration and training to over 750 high school juniors and seniors in 15 program areas. We serve students from 21 high schools representing Springfield and the surrounding areas. Our mission is to provide students the opportunity to:

  • Pursue career options
  • Enhance employability through technical and workplace skill development
  • Transition into employment or post-secondary education
  • Prepare for life-long learning

Capital Area Career Center provides an educational environment that assists students in discovering their potential through the development of occupational skills, positive work ethic characteristics and leadership skills. Students have access to technology-enriched curriculum, taught by a highly competent staff, using state of the art equipment. CACC has partnered with Lincolnland Community College allowing our students the opportunity to earn college credit at no cost. In addition to dual credit, many of our programs offer industry certifications.

Classes are offered in two sessions, five days a week. Each CACC program allows students to learn program-specific mathematics, science reasoning, language arts and technology in real world applications. CACC programs include training in the career areas listed below:

  • Arts, Audio/Video Technology and Communication
  • Education & Training
  • Health Science
  • Hospitality & Tourism

  • Information Technology
  • Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security
  • Manufacturing
  • Transportation, Distribution  & Logistics

Adult training programs include CNA as well as LPN training through the Capital Area School of Practical Nursing (CASPN).
