Building Trades  

Students apply their classroom learning through actual hands-on experiences. You must be willing to work outside and be able to handle construction work. This program articulates closely with the Electrical and Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning programs.

Program length: 2 years

PhotoYou will be able to:

  • Understand the basics of carpentry and masonry
  • Read blueprints and understand layout procedures
  • Operate hand and power tools
  • Frame roofs, floors, walls, and ceilings
  • Install doors and windows
  • Install exterior siding
  • Perform finishing detail procedures

PhotoBuilding Trades students should have a solid background in math, measurement, and general science. Good communication skills help in working with home buyers.

  • Construction retail sales specialist
  • Carpenter apprenticeship

PhotoTech prep courses and credits available:

  • Two-year technical degree in surveying, architectural drafting, or construction management
